Last month, BRABUS teased everyone with a photo of a covered vehicle they said would be the ultimate "wolf in sheep's clothing." Today, they officially announced what that vehicle is. Say hello to the BRABUS Bullit, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan that is the beneficiary of the utterly monstrous BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine transplant. Put plainly, that makes this rather understated-looking (for BRABUS, at least) sedan one of the fastest cars in the world, period.

Power from the twin-turbocharged V12 is a staggering 720 horses and an even more mind-numbing 974 lb-ft of torque. For the sake of tractability, BRABUS electronically limits the peak available torque at "only" 811 lb-ft. Still, you'd better have a substantial tire budget set aside, as you'll (literally) be burning through it very quickly. A heavily-modified 5-speed automatic with a BRABUS locking rear differential sends power rearward. Two different final drive ratios are offered, as well -- 2.65:1 or 2.24:1. Naturally, the exhaust, suspension and brakes are all modified as well.

Performance numbers are blistering: 0-62 in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 224 mph. If have €348,000 handy (and you live in Europe), you can consider yourself to be in the market for one. For complete details and specs on the Bullit, just follow the jump.

BRABUS punches up the Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI

BRABUS has announced its D3 S POWER XTRA tuning kit for Mercedes-Benz's new C220 CDI sedan. The Euro-market oil-burner sees a marked improvement in performance after installation, with power jumping from 168 hp/295 lb-ft to 217 horses and a stout 354 lb-ft of torque. On the road, this shaves a full second off the run to 100 km/h (62 mph), which takes 7.8 seconds post-modification. The car's top speed increases to 149 mph, a 6 mph gain. Despite the added performance, emissions remain at the same Euro IV-compliant levels as the factory-stock C220 CDI. Installation can be performed at any Mercedes-Benz dealer's service department. Naturally, BRABUS would love for buyers of the power kit to pony up for additional accessories like the tuner's sport exhaust and bodywork modifications, but they're certainly not required.

Follow the jump for BRABUS' full press release.

Bad in the best way: smart launches fortwo BRABUS

08/28/2007   [Original: smart via Autoblog]
Category: Aftermarket, Tuner Tuesdays, Economy, Euro, SMART, Brabus

It's been a while since we last spoke of smart's BRABUS-massaged microcars, but the time has come to officially launch the next generation of the potent pint-sized people movers, and it may have been worth the wait for the fortwo BRABUS and Fortwo BRABUS Xclusive.

Beginning with the base turbocharged three-cylinder motor, BRABUS tweaks output to 98 HP and 103 lb.-ft. of torque, allowing the oddly-shaped coupe to reach 60 in a hair under ten seconds. While that 0-60 run might not be impressive, it's important to note that the fortwo does all that while returning over 45 MPG (U.S.).

The exterior benefits from wider rear wheel arches, a center mounted dual exhaust and 16-inch wheels up front, with 17s residing out back. Suspension changes result in a vehicle that's ten millimeters lower than its stock counterpart, while inside BRABUS throws in a new steering wheel, instruments and pedals. the step-up fortwo BRABUS Xclisive adds a monochrome paint scheme, additional bodywork modifications, projector beam headlamps, heated leather seats, and a leather-look IP. All the standard smart colors are available.

You can read all about the options by making the jump for the full press release from smart.

BRABUS turns 30: Sleeper to be unveiled in Frankfurt

08/06/2007   [Original: BRABUS via Autoblog]
Category: Frankfurt Auto Show, Tuner Tuesdays, Brabus

2007 marks the 30th year of operation for Mercedes-Benz ultra-tuner, Brabus. The company's vehicles are gleeful forays into the outer limits of street-legal power. Clearly, somewhere in Bottrop, lab-coated engineers are trying to find a way bend the space/time continuum via the use of tuned V8 and V12 combustion engines.

And we love them for it.

Now, the thing with BRABUS is that oftentimes, its creations have heavy visual modifications to go along with the monsters that live under their bonnets. So, in a move away from standard procedure, the company's newest creation will be more in the mold of a sleeper. Brabus says it will unveil a "wolf in sheep's clothing" at the upcoming IAA in Frankfurt. You might argue that AMG already does this in-house. Who cares. If BRABUS wants to show us how it does a sleeper, we're all eyes and ears. If the picture above is an actual hint, we think it's going to be a stockish-looking C-Class with utterly obscene power. More to come from Frankfurt, and we're looking forward to it.

New smart fortwo BRABUS: More power, still stingy

Smart has introduced the BRABUS edition of the new fortwo, which is available in both coupe and convertible bodystyles. Like the versions that preceded this latest iteration, the new fortwo BRABUS is a trick-looking little ride, sporting the German tuner's Monoblock VI alloys, a lowered suspension, flared wheel arches, and a sport exhaust system. BRABUS pedals, gauges and a 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters complete the look. If the Xclusive package is selected, additional skirting is added outside, and inside, the seats are leather-shod and heated, with additional leatherette and aluminum-look elements sprucing up the surroundings.

Power comes from a 98-horsepower turbocharged inline 3-cylinder that affords brisk performance (for a smart) with a 9.9-second 0-62 time and a top end of 96 mph. Fuel economy in the combined cycle is 45 mpg even with the extra punch, and it emits just 126g/km of carbon dioxide. Prices range from €16,490 to €22,430 depending on body style and trim packages. Once again, the butchiest-looking smart fortwo is also the coolest of the bunch, and it's stil a miser at the pump, to boot.

Top 9 Emergency Service Vehicles from around the world

06/20/2007   [Original: deputydog via Autoblog]
Category: Government/Legal, Safety, Lamborghini, Lotus, Porsche, Ferrari, Peugeot, Brabus

For would-be criminals, the police supercar is a bit of a paradox. Unless you have some serious get-away hardware, there is no freaking chance that you're going to outrun, say, a Lamborghini Gallardo "fuzz edition." On the Yang side, an officer would have to have some serious fortitude to cut you off or bump or your back end, and it's not likley he or she will haul you off to the slammer in a two-seater.

The folks over at Deputy Dog have compiled a list of their nine favorite emergency service vehicles, and we think they've done a bang up job. The Italians and Germans dominate this list, and with good reason. The two countries stamp some of the hottest metal on the world market, and it only makes sense that their police departments have a shot in hell of catching suspects with like power. One of our favorite models is the Porsche Cayenne ambulance. If you required emergency medical attention, wouldn't you want to get to the hospital as fast as possible. Check out the entire list of top emergency service vehicles by clicking the Read link. Just one question though, why the Top 9 instead of 10?

Thanks for the tip, deputydog!

BRABUS releases B63 S tuning kit for all AMG "63" cars

Brabus' claim to fame is its apparent willingness to do anything short of affixing a solid rocket booster to a Mercedes to make it go faster (and really, maybe the only reason it hasn't yet is simply because it's still working out the details). Short of such NASA tech, the tuner will happily swap out your car's existing engine for one of its insanely powerful SV12 S biturbo mills when applicable,.but if that exceeds your budgetary constraints (or it doesn't fit in your ride), there are still alternatives. For example, Brabus can simply tune drivers' existing engines, even when said engine is he already heady AMG 6.2L V8. The newly-announced B63 S tuning package does exactly that. It's comprised of some engine management reprogramming, a new air filter, and new cats, the combined effect of which boosts the V8's output to 550 horsepower from the pedestrian 515 it makes in stock form.

Like Ben Parker said, with great power comes great responsibility, so Brabus helpfully suggests that one should use the opportunity and also add some of the its additional bells and whistles to ensure that all the newfound power gets down to the ground.sans unwanted drama. You know the deal -- suspension, wheel/tire, aero, etc. -- Brabus can provide all these things, too, assuming your checkbook can take the heat.
